Dravid needs 139 runs to join 9,000 club

Source:  New Kerala     Date: February 10, 2006

By Qaiser Mohammad Ali, Rawalpindi: The second India-Pakistan one-dayer here Saturday could be memorable for at least two reasons -- Rahul Dravid needs 139 runs to complete 9,000, while Pakistan's Mohammed Yousuf requires just two runs to reach 7,000.

The Indian skipper currently has a tally of 8,861 at 40.09 from 276 matches, with 11 centuries and 65 half-centuries - second only to Sachin Tendulkar in the team.

Tendulkar became the first batsman in the world to score 14,000 runs during the first
match in Peshawar Monday. In 359 one-dayers - another world record - he now has an aggregate of 14,009 at 44.19 with 39 centuries and 71 half-centuries.

Tendulkar and Dravid are the only ones in the squad to have taken a century of catches, 107 and 165 respectively.

There are other milestones waiting to be reached.

Yuvraj Singh needs 24 more runs to complete 3,500 in the shorter version of
the game. The left-handed batsman has scored 3,476 at 32.18 from 138 matches, with five centuries and 20 50-plus scores.

Mohammed Kaif will look to complete 2,500 runs in ODI cricket by scoring 61 more runs. The workmanlike batsman currently has an aggregate of 2,439 runs at 34.84 from 104 matches. He also has scored two centuries and 14 half-centuries.

Hard-hitting batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni has so far played 31 one-day internationals and scored 982 runs at an excellent average of 46.75, with 183 as his highest. He thus needs 18 to complete 1,000 runs.

In the Pakistani side, Mohammed Yousuf requires just two runs to reach 7,000. In 208 matches, he has amassed 6,998 runs at 41.40 boosted by 11 centuries and 46 half-centuries.

Abdul Razzaq will look to make 48 runs to complete 4,000 runs. His tally of 3,952 has come at an average of 29.71, with two centuries and 20 half-centuries.
