Sachin's cramps not a worry: Dravid

Source:  Outlook India     Date: February 13, 2006

Sachin Tendulkar's bout of cramps during his innings today was not a cause for worry and the master batsman would be fit to take on Pakistan in the next two matches after some treatment from the team physio, captain Rahul Dravid said.

"Sachin had a bout of cramps. He should be ok after an ice bath and some treatment from the physio," Dravid told reporters after the match.

Dravid was also hopeful that Ajit Agarkar, who was replaced by super sub Zaheer Khan after his initial six-over spell due to a back strain, would be available for the next match at Multan on February 16.

"Ajit had to leave the field because of a bit of strain in his back as we did not want to take chances. His back is a bit sore but he seems to be ok. I can't say definitely (about his fitness) but hopefully he will get better after some treatment," the skipper said.

On the decision to send back Virender Sehwag and Harbhajan Singh, Dravid said it was taken keeping in mind the players' welfare and the amount of cricket the team would play up to the end of the year. "It's always tough to lose someone like Viru, but the decision was taken keeping the players' career in mind. We had been advised that he needs two weeks' rest. We have a lot of cricket ahead till the end of the year," he explained.

Sehwag, who injured his shoulder during the second ODI at Rawalpindi, has already left for India.

Harbhajan Singh, who has been advised a rest of seven to 10 days for his right index finger, is set to leave for home tomorrow.

The Indian team would thus be reduced to 14 players for the last two matches of the tour as no replacements have been called for because of paucity of time.
