Performance: Made a mammoth 148 off 362 balls in the 1st innings and an 81 of 146 balls in
the 2nd. Also took 2 catches. The match was drawn.
Match: 3rd Test vs. South Africa
Ground: New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg
Date: April 17-21 1997
Performance: Made 92 off 295 balls in the 1st innings. Rahul shared the Man of the match
award with S. Chanderpaul of West Indies. The rain-interrupted match ended in a draw.
Match: 5th Test vs. West Indies
Ground: Bourda, Georgetown
Date: August 22-26 2002
Performance: Was one of 3 centurions for India in that Test. Made a brilliant 148 that helped
India declare at 628/8, also took 3 catches. Rahul was chosen over Tendulkar, who had scored
a 193, for the Man of the Match award. India won by an innings and 46 runs.
Match: 3rd Test vs. England
Ground: Headingley, Leeds
Date: September 5-9 2002
Performance: Made a solid 217 off 468 balls (629 minutes) that helped India post 508 in reply
to England's 1st innings total of 515. Also took 3 catches. This was his 2nd Man of the Match
award in the series!
Match: 4th Test vs. England
Ground: The AMP Oval, London
Date: October 8-12 2003
Performance: Made a huge 222 to take India to 500 in the 1st innings and smashed a 73 in the
2nd innings, scoring nearly 300 runs in the match. Also took 3 catches. The match was drawn.
Match: 1st Test vs. New Zealand
Ground: Sardar Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad
Date: December 12-16 2003
Performance: After India were down and out at 85-4 in the 1st innings, Rahul (233) and Laxman
(148) put up 300 runs for the 5th wicket as Ind posted 523 in reply to Australia's 556. After
batting for nearly 600 minutes, Rahul took two amazing catches in the slips as Ind bowled out Aus
for 196. Chasing 233 to win, he again scored 72* to help India to one of the most memorable
wins ever. Rahul scored 305 runs in the match. This was his 2nd MOM award in 2003!
Match: 2nd Test vs. Australia
Ground: Adelaide Oval
Date: April 13-16 2004
Performance: After bowling out Pak for 224 on the 1st day, India needed to get a big score to
seal off the match. Rahul batted for 12 1/2 hrs. for his career best 270 which helped his team to
a huge 600. Thanks to him, India won the match by an innings and 13 runs and the series 2-1!
Match: 3rd Test vs. Pakistan
Ground: Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium
Date: March 16-20 2004
Performance: Made 110 in the 1st innings and 135 in the 2nd. This was the 2nd time he scored
100s in both innings. His contributions helped India win by 195 runs and go 1-up in the series.
