The Webmasters

We are twin sisters and huge fans of Rahul Dravid and Team India. We live in the USA and are in high school. We love watching cricket and never miss a single India tournament. We have NO association with Rahul or any of his family members. We are just fans like you.

To us, Rahul is one of the finest cricketers the game has ever produced. His sincerity and determination set him way apart from others. Rahul’s consistency in both forms of the game is also very impressive. His simplicity and humbleness, despite reaching such remarkable heights, is definitely what we like best about Rahul. He is a thorough gentleman and is truly an inspiration in whatever he does. There is absolutely no doubt that Rahul Dravid is one of the all-time greats in cricket history. As zealous fans of Rahul and Team India, we are immensely proud of our Mr. Dependable and wish him all the luck in the future

We also have a website on Indian cricket captain, Sourav Ganguly. Be sure to check it out at www.souravganguly.net.

If you have any comments, suggestions, or contributions to make, please write to the webmasters at rahul@souravganguly.net. Please note that this site is best viewed in Internet Explorer 6.0.

The start

How does it feel to launch your own website when you are still in 10th grade? Here’s how it all began.

We must have got our cricking genes from Dad.  He can still bring down the roof when a wicket falls. My twin sister and I join in the chorus.  Mom watches, but only between her kitchen chores and Hindi soap operas.  When we were in India eight years ago, we watched cricket but were not too crazy about it.  The fever caught on from the 2003 World Cup played in South Africa when we watched, by a stroke of luck, matches telecast in the USA by Dish TV.

That was not the first time we saw Rahul on TV. We vaguely remembered him when he had made his debut in 1996. But that was it. We didn’t remember anything else about him. J The first time we actually watched Rahul play was in the 2003 World Cup. We admired him for his hard work and determination. The way he carried out his responsibilities of vice-captain, wicket-keeper, and batsman and that too, without ever complaining of the added responsibility of wicket-keeping, was remarkable, we thought. We started surfing the net for more information on Rahul and though we weren’t willing to admit it just yet, we were becoming big fans of India’s Mr. Dependable.

A few months later, came the tour Down Under in December 2003. A historic series for Rahul and Team India, and one, we as Indians, would never forget. The way Rahul batted in that series and the way he took India to the famous Adelaide win was definitely what made us “die-hard” fans of Rahul. Not to mention, we were already die-hard fans of Sourav Ganguly.  It was so heartening to see Rahul’s commitment to his team and to millions of fans watching back home.

It never stopped from there for us. Our admiration for Rahul kept growing and we thought that he deserves a comprehensive website where fans like us could know all about their favorite cricketer. By this time, we were already running a site on Sourav Ganguly and we were getting lot of requests from our visitors to make a site on Rahul Dravid as well.

We had thought of making a site on Rahul a long time ago but because we were already running a site on Sourav, we wondered how we would be able to manage two sites at once and also concentrate on our high school studies. In February 2005, we decided we couldn’t wait any longer and would make a site on Rahul no matter what. We started working on the site around March and in less than two months, rahuldravid.net was launched.

It takes hard work to manage this site but we promise to keep it as updated as possible. We look to make it your one stop for anything and everything on Rahul and give you the latest news and happenings on India’s Mr. Dependable. So keep visiting and do write to us.  Your ideas, comments and words of encouragement will keep us going.

Happy surfing! Hope you enjoy surfing as much as we have enjoyed putting this site together.
